Welcome to issue 36 of

Catalyst

Aimed at young people and teachers, we are proud to bring you cutting edge STEM research that sparks teaching, learning and debate.

Research insights and developments, pitched at 14-19 year old students, written by leading academics. Catalyst is published 3 times a year with teacher’s notes, to help bring the articles alive in the classroom.

This edition features articles on: Zombies, Viruses and life on Earth, Physics in virtual reality, how you help protect the health of our plants, rising sea levels, and how to measure the terminal velocity of winged seeds. We also hear from Steve Gamble who looks back on his career in medical research and Rachel Collins who is starting her career in science communication. We hope you enjoy this edition.
